History of Valentine's Day

Valentin's day is one of the most popular holidays in USA. More than 62% of the people celebrate it. The origins of this celebration comes from a traditional romance celebration called Lupercaria. After the churches chose Mid-February as Saint Valentin day.  One legend says that Valentine was a priest from Rome in the third century. When Claudius II said that single men were better soldiers he outlawed marriages for young men. Valentina was disagree and he continued marry young lovers in secret. When Claudius II discovered the secret he order her died. 

Today one billion of cards are written on St. Valentine ’s Day, 220 millions of roses are produced for this holiday and 35 millions of chocolate boxes are sold.
